The Ultimate Product Change Guide

A product change (PC) lets you convert one credit card to another within the same issuer — no hard pull, no new account, no loss of credit history or limit. Look up your card below to see your options and the rules that apply.

Search for your card above to see your product change options.
Why do a product change instead of canceling?
No hard credit pull
A product change is not a new application. Your credit score is not affected and no new account appears on your report.
Credit history and limit are preserved
The account age carries over to the new card. Your credit limit typically stays the same. This is the primary advantage over canceling and re-applying.
No sign-up bonus on any product change
Every issuer is explicit on this. If a sign-up bonus matters, apply for the card fresh as a new applicant.
Must stay within the issuer
You cannot product change between issuers. Chase cards stay at Chase, AmEx cards stay at AmEx, and so on.
Annual fee timing matters
Request the product change before your annual fee posts to avoid paying it. Refund policies vary — check the issuer details above.
